The Handicrafts Living Exhibition Hall, a provincial cultural heritage site, was transformed from the No. 2 and No. 3 workshops of the first cotton mill in Hangzhou. It was originally known as Tongyi Public Yarn Factory and is now the Zhejiang Province’s major handicraft experience base. The 3000 square meters exhibition hall, after renovation, features distinctive workshop-style scenes and interactive demonstrations by skilled artisans throughout the entire visit.
In 2012, it was awarded the title of ‘City of Crafts and Folk Arts’ by UNESCO. On June 22, 2014, the Grand Canal of China was inscribed on the World Heritage List during the 38th session of the World Heritage Committee, becoming China’s 46th World Heritage site. Our hall is located on the south side of the Gongchen Bridge at the southern end of the Grand Canal in China. In August 2015, the Handicrafts Living Exhibition Hall was listed as one of the sixth batch of Hangzhou municipal party committee’s Hangzhou youth and student second classroom activity bases, and it is highly favored by Hangzhou students. The hall offers a deep experience of Chinese historical and traditional crafts, as well as intangible cultural heritage crafts, with a variety of non-precious and creative handicraft experience projects specifically for the second classroom of young people, including paper-cutting, bamboo weaving, egg carving, and more than twenty traditional projects.Opening Hours: The hall is open all year round from 09:30 to 17:30.
