Zhu Tan Mountain, nestled within the Xiandu Scenic Area, boasts a variety of captivating attractions. Among them are the Fairy Embankment, Huiweng Pavilion, Nine Dragons Wall, and Chaoran Pavilion.
The Fairy Embankment stands as the gateway to the scenic area, a long, picturesque embankment nestled between two bridges. Lined with swaying willows and paved with pebbles, it exudes a romantic and affectionate ambiance, making it a favored spot for local couples to capture their wedding moments. Its allure has grown, drawing thousands of newlyweds from nearby cities such as Lishui, Jinhua, and Wuyi. The backdrop of Dinghu Peak and Lianxi serves as a testament to their love, symbolizing the intermingling of lovers like the reflection of Dinghu Peak in the water.
On the Fairy Embankment, you’ll find the Wanghai Pavilion, a four-sided, pointed structure, and a waterside pavilion adjacent to it. These not only enhance the natural beauty of the area but also provide excellent vantage points for photography. From here, Dinghu Peak looms majestically on the shore, its reflection in the water adding a touch of grace, swaying with the waves. As the setting sun casts a golden glow, the peak and its reflection in the creek become even more mesmerizing, evoking the image of jade palaces in the sky. This idyllic landscape is the quintessence of Xiandu and has long been a place of interest for celebrities from around the world throughout history.
Huiweng Pavilion, Nine Dragons Wall, and Chaoran Pavilion are also noteworthy attractions within Zhu Tan Mountain, each contributing to the rich tapestry of the Xiandu Scenic Area.Huiweng Pavilion: It is a semi-side pavilion built artificially inside a rock cave. The pavilion covers an area of 90 square meters and is about 6 meters high, with a wooden structure and two pavilion corners extending outwards from the cave. The cave is named Huiweng Cave, and the mountain behind it is Huiweng Rock. At the foot of the mountain, Haoxi River is broad and deep, known as Zhu Tan, and it is said that the Song Dynasty Neo-Confucianist master Zhu Xi (styled Huiweng) once rested here. The scenic spots here are all named after Zhu Xi’s surname and courtesy name. Huiweng Rock towers dozens of meters high, stretching for hundreds of meters from north to south, with cliffs, green pools, ancient caves, and secluded charm. The ancient trees cover the sky, making it another good place to explore the secluded beauty of Xiandu. Behind Huiweng Rock, the environment is serene with many intertwined trees, making it an ideal place for lovers to pledge their love.
It has also been the filming location for dozens of TV dramas and movies such as ‘Ashima’, ‘Handsome Siblings’, ‘Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils’, and ‘Emperor Wu of Han’.
Nine Dragons Wall: By the water, there is a peculiar rock wall known as the Nine Dragons Wall. It is a strip-like, layered, and jointed geological structure. The entire joint zone is about 100 meters long, almost parallel to the surface of Haoxi River, with the lowest part less than 1 meter from the water. The caves within the joint zone vary in height and depth, reaching up to 4 meters in height and depth.Nine Dragons Wall, also known as Dragon Cliff, is a remarkable natural formation nestled among cliffs and steep rocks. The area is characterized by its distinct layers of tuff, which create an undulating and curving landscape, with protrusions and indentations that resemble countless dragons lurking on the stone, giving rise to its name.
Chaoran Pavilion, a four-sided, single-eave, pointed-top pavilion by the creek, offers a transcendent view and a sense of leisurely wandering with the clouds. This wooden structure, with red columns and green tiles, stands 2 meters in length and 5 meters in height, serving as an ideal vantage point to overlook the sunrise over Ma’anshan. From this location, visitors can enjoy a distant view of the sunrise to the east, observe the Tian Shi Cave up close to the north, and admire the majestic Dinghu Peak to the south.

The entire site is open to visitors from January 1st to December 31st, with operating hours from 08:00 to 17:00.
