The Underground Long River is located 8 kilometers east of Lanxi, also known as ‘Liudong Mountain’, and is particularly famous for its three attractions: the Underground Long River, Qixia Garden, and Qizhen Temple. Within the Underground Long River, a subterranean river over a kilometer long runs through the entire area, with water flowing year-round, and the source remains unknown to this day. A distinctive feature and highlight of the scenic area is taking a boat ride through the karst caves along the subterranean river.
The cave tour area can be explored both on foot and by boat, and it is quite interesting to observe the stalactites hanging down from all sides while on the boat. Moreover, the scenic area ticket already includes the boat fare, so it is worth experiencing. The entire boat ride is approximately 800 meters, after which one can exit the cave by following the stone steps, and along the way, there are also various fascinating stalactites to see. Qizhen Temple is located to the north of the Underground Long River, first established during the Changxing years of the Later Tang Dynasty, and features clear springs like Tianchi Spring and the mystical Feilai Peak among its landscapes. Not far from the Underground Long River, in Dongyuan Village, there is also the ancestral home of the famous socialite, Miss Zhao Si, known as Qixia Garden, a Qing Dynasty Hui-style brick and wood structure, which displays some historical materials and stories between Miss Zhao Si and General Zhang Xueliang. It is worth a visit for those interested. Opening hours are from 08:00 to 16:00 all year round.
