Dachen Island

Dachen Island is located outside the mouth of Taizhou Bay. It is composed of Upper Dachen Island, Lower Dachen Island, Yangqi Island, Snake Mountain Island, Bird Island and other 20 bird reefs. With an area of 14.6 square kilometers and being 52 kilometers away from Jiaojiang District, Taizhou. Dachen Island integrates mountains and seas and is shaded by green trees. Due to geological structure changes over hundreds of millions of years and the impact of ocean currents and tides, the rock strata and reefs around the island are quite peculiar. It is famous for its natural scenery of islands with strange reefs standing upright and high mountains and vast seas. It is a provincial island forest park. Upper Dachen Island is characterized by beautiful natural scenery of harbors, sea erosion landscapes in various shapes, rich and diverse forest landscapes, legendary historical relics and excellent seaside baths. The famous one is Wushatou Beach. It is adjacent to mountains and seas, wide and open. The sand is black and the water is clear, making people feel relaxed and happy. Lower Dachen Island is characterized by fishing port charm, steep and magnificent sea erosion landforms, mysterious sea god religious temples and island plant landscapes. There are the Dachen Island Youth Palace, the exhibition hall of reclamation and entrepreneurship, and groups of wind turbines. Jiawu Rock, known as the ‘bonsai of the East China Sea’, is truly unique. Two huge reefs more than 30 meters high can be seen in the shape of sails in the sea, pointing straight to the sky.The two reefs stand towering and precarious, with majestic momentum, only a few feet apart. Under the rock, turbulent waves surge and white foam billows. Open all year round and all day.
