The Exhibition Hall of the Former Residences of Yang Yiankun and Yang Shangkun is located in Shuangjiang Ancient Town, 10 kilometers northwest of Tongnan County. It is the birthplace of Yang Shangkun, the former leader, and his elder brother, revolutionary martyr Yang Yiankun. The former residence is a typical Qing Dynasty architecture with a purlin and brace structure, overhanging gable roof and small black tiles.
It has a construction area of 1100 square meters and 39 rooms in total. It is laid out in a one-entry, three-layer quadrangle courtyard style, simple and elegant. It is one of the well-preserved Qing Dynasty architectures in southwest China. The former residence was built in 1868 (the sixth year of Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty). In 1992, its original appearance was restored. An exhibition on the life and achievements of Comrade Yang Yiankun is arranged in the former residence. The museum is divided into two parts: ‘text, pictures and materials’ and’restored objects’. There are a total of 21 exhibition rooms with an exhibition line of 180 meters long.
