Fubao Ancient Town is located on the southern border of Sichuan Province, by the Dacao River. As early as the Tang and Song dynasties, it was a necessary place on the salt road for Sichuan salt to enter Guizhou. In the late Yuan and early Ming dynasties, it formed a commercial town and was initially called Xinchang. In the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, it was first called Fubao. It is the political, economic, and cultural center of the Dacao River basin. It has a history of more than 600 years since the town flourished. The ancient town is built against the mountain and follows the water. Three waters meet, and five bridges are connected. It undulates high and low, twists and turns in a variety of ways. It combines with mountains and waters and is unified with nature. The bluestone streets meander, and old houses and ancient pavilions are lined up one after another. Surrounded by green mountains and shaded by greenery, experts call it ‘the essence of mountain architecture’ and ‘a spatial symphony’. The ancient town is located at the junction of southern Sichuan and northern Guizhou, at the intersection of Yelang culture and Central Plains culture, thus forming a unique historical culture. Every Ming and Qing architecture, palace, temple, and shrine, everywhere there are stilted wooden buildings, carvings and paintings, as well as the melodious ancient suona music and simple folk singing, all condensing the brilliant glory of historical culture. Fubao Ancient Town has a long history and profound cultural connotations. It is a well-known historical and cultural ancient town in Sichuan, one of the top ten ancient towns in Sichuan, and also a cultural tourism boutique scenic spot in the ‘Golden Triangle’ of ecological tourism in Sichuan, Chongqing and Guizhou.
