Yuan Dynasty Iron Lions

This is a pair of iron lions from the Yuan Dynasty, currently preserved within the Yu Garden. The male lion is on the left, and the female on the right. The male lion raises its head, opens its mouth, with bright eyes and a ball under its foot, representing supreme power and might. The female lion, gentle and docile, plays with a cub using its forepaw, presenting an endearing posture, symbolizing the continuation of offspring.
