The Qiyuan Scenic Area is located in Haiyan County and includes several parts such as Qiyuan Garden, Haiyan County Museum, Zhang Leping Memorial Hall, and Zhang Yuanji Memorial Hall. Qiyuan Garden, originally known as ‘Feng’s Garden’, is the main building of the scenic area. It is one of the top ten famous gardens in China and has a typical private garden style in the south of the Yangtze River. Covering an area of 15 mu, the garden is mainly composed of trees, mountains, and ponds, with scattered decorations and an orderly layout. Although Qiyuan Garden is not large in area, there are many scenic spots. The entire garden is laid out with a residence in the front and a garden in the back. It is a brick-and-wood structure with white walls and black tiles and is almost covered by trees. Tourists can walk comfortably through caves or along shore paths. If you want to learn about the story of Qiyuan Garden, you can hire a tour guide in the scenic area (50 yuan per session). The Haiyan County Museum is next to Qiyuan Garden. In front of it is a commercial street and a small square where you can buy some snacks and stroll around. If you have more time, you can visit the Zhang Leping Memorial Hall and Zhang Yuanji Memorial Hall opposite the square. Both are free. Zhang Leping is the creator of the ‘Sanmao’ comic image, and many tourists can find their childhood memories here. Opening hours: Open all year round from 08:30 to 17:00.
