The Xinchang Historical and Cultural Exhibition Hall, with a construction area of 1500 square meters, was originally built during the Qing Guangxu period, and has a history of over 100 years. Before the liberation, this place was a larger pawnshop in Xinchang – Xinlong Pawnshop. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, it served as the town’s cultural palace and workers’ club. In 2006, after renovation, it was designed and exhibited by the Shanghai Historical Museum as the ‘Xinchang Historical and Cultural Exhibition Hall’. The exhibition hall consists of four exhibition areas: ‘Vicissitudes of the Sea’, ‘Boiling Sea and Enduring Waves’, ‘Gathering of Celebrities’, and ‘Ecological Ancient Town’. It is open all year round from 09:00 to 16:00, with specific business status subject to the day’s opening conditions.
