Chongyang Palace in Xinchang is one of the larger Taoist temples in Zhejiang Province, known as the Taoist Tenth Cavern Heaven, Sixtieth Blessed Land, and the Upper Clarity Altar. It has become a popular destination for religious tourism in Xinchang County, following the footsteps of the Great Buddha Temple.
The scenic area of Chongyang Palace is divided into four parts: the ‘Mingdao Lidao’ Wall, ‘Zhongmiao Zhimen’ Archway, Wenchang Pavilion, Liangsheng Hall, Confucius Asking Questions from Laozi Mural, Zhuoying Pavilion, and ‘Duxingmen’ Archway, which collectively form the ‘Tongling Rumiao’ area. The ‘Yuelao Temple’ houses the Hongxi Hall and the living quarters for Taoist priests. Below this is the Xiaoyao Building, which can be used for vegetarian offerings and prayers during festivals and as a teahouse for enjoying tea and martial arts performances. In front of the altar, there is a continuous flow of water from the east, stored as the ‘Yuqing Pool’. Opening hours are from April 10th to October 10th, 07:00-17:00; and from October 11th to April 9th, 07:30-16:30. Preferential policies include: 1. Free admission for: a. Children under 1.1 meters in height b. Active military personnel, disabled persons, journalists (with valid identification) 2. Discounted admission for: a. Children between 1.1 meters and 1.2 meters tall can enjoy a 50% discount on the ticket price b.
