The Ningbo Bang Museum is located in Zhenhai District, Ningbo City, at the southern end of the Hangzhou Bay跨海大桥 and the end of the Zhoushan Liandao Bridge. It covers an area of 70 acres and has a construction area of 24,000 square meters. It is a key cultural construction project in Ningbo during the ‘Eleventh Five-Year Plan’ and was officially opened on October 22, 2009. As a city humanistic museum, the Ningbo Bang Museum systematically displays the development epic of the Ningbo Bang from the end of the Ming Dynasty to the present, focusing on the thread of time, historical facts, and prominent figures. It aims to promote the financial wisdom culture and hometown feelings of the Ningbo Bang, and to advocate the humanistic theme of tracing roots and respecting ancestors by creating ’emotional landmarks and spiritual homes’. The architecture of the Ningbo Bang Museum fully highlights the cultural characteristics of the Ningbo Bang, which adheres to tradition while also pioneering and innovating. The museum’s architectural design is presided over by He Jingtang, an academician of the Engineering Academy and the designer of the China Pavilion at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. The museum’s exhibition is rich in content, innovative in presentation, and rich in humanistic atmosphere. The museum’s exhibition design won the ‘Best Exhibition Space Design Award Nomination’ at the 2010 Asia-Pacific Interior Design Biennial Competition and the ‘Best Content Design Award’ in the 2010 Zhejiang Province Exhibition Evaluation.
