Impression Dahongpao at Wuyi Mountain is the fifth creation by the renowned ‘Impression Iron Triangle’ team, led by directors Zhang Yimou, Wang Chaoge, and Fan Yue, following their previous works such as Impression Liu Sanjie, Impression Lijiang, Impression West Lake, and Impression Hainan Island.
The performance venue of Impression Dahongpao is one of the world’s largest teahouses and features a unique 360-degree rotating audience seating, making it a ‘landscape theater’ with a stage visual span of 12,000 meters, one of the longest in the world. It seamlessly integrates 15 movie screens into the natural landscape, presenting a multi-screen matrix of ultra-wide live-action movie scenes for the first time, offering a dreamlike and immersive experience as if one is touring within a painting.
In this Impressive Dahongpao teahouse, there are 1,988 seats, and the audience seating can complete a 360-degree smooth rotation in just 5 minutes. The visual radius from the seats exceeds 2 kilometers, with stages connected on all sides, creating an impressive panorama that spans thousands of meters. The venue is equipped with world-class lighting and sound equipment, including 3,000 video digital lights and computer lights, and surround sound systems. From the impression theater, one can easily view Wuyi Mountain’s famous King Peak and Jade Maiden Peak, with the aroma of China’s tea king Dahongpao tea lingering and warming the heart, allowing one to intimately connect with nature during the performance.
As a large-scale landscape performance showcasing Chinese tea culture to the world, the ‘live-action movie’ is a significant part of the performance and a major highlight of Impression Dahongpao. The 70-minute performance takes place in an entirely open ‘landscape’ setting, making it a ‘landscape theater’ in the world. With Wuyi Mountain, a dual World Heritage Site, as its geographical backdrop and Wuyi tea culture as its thematic focus, Impression Dahongpao skillfully integrates natural landscapes, tea culture, and folk culture into a single landscape performance. It combines Wuyi’s natural landscapes, tea culture, and the creations of China’s elite artists, making the entire performance splendid and all-encompassing.
