The Jingdezhen China Ceramic Museum was formerly known as the Jingdezhen Ceramic Museum. It is the first large-scale ceramic-themed art museum in China. The exhibits in the museum are divided into the ‘Historical Section’, the ‘New China Section’ and special exhibition halls. The museum was built in 1954 and houses more than 20,000 famous ceramic masterpieces from different historical periods since the Neolithic pottery and the Han and Tang Dynasties. Among them, there are more than 500 national precious cultural relics, covering the representative varieties in the long history of Jingdezhen’s thousand-year porcelain making. In addition, it also collects many foreign ceramics and ceramics from other places, as well as gold, stone, jade, calligraphy and paintings. In particular, modern and contemporary Jingdezhen ceramic boutiques are unique to this museum. The exhibits in the museum include: celadon and white porcelain from the Five Dynasties; bluish white porcelain from the Song Dynasty; blue and white porcelain, egg white porcelain, and underglaze red from the Yuan Dynasty; blue and white porcelain, multicolored porcelain, doucai, and various types of colored glaze porcelain from the Ming Dynasty; dozens of types of fine ceramics from the Qing Dynasty.
