Sanjiangkou is where the Yongjiang River, Yaojiang River, and Fenghua River converge, and it is also the heart of Ningbo. The rivers divide Ningbo into three areas: Jiangdong District, Haishu District, and Jiangbei District, connected by bridges such as Yongjiang Bridge. This place has been a gathering spot for merchants throughout the ages, where you can witness the dense urban landscape, and the neon-lit nightscape is mesmerizing.
Public transportation in Sanjiangkou is highly developed, allowing you to reach almost any destination. Accommodations are more concentrated in Haishu, where hotels of various levels are easily found. On the Jiangbei Foreign Bund, European-style old buildings have been transformed into chic tea houses, bars, and cafes, making it a more fashionable area of Ningbo. The Ningbo City Exhibition Hall and Ningbo Art Museum, located on the riverfront cultural square and built from the old docks, are worth a visit. The Jiangbei Catholic Church at the entrance of the Foreign Bund was once a landmark building. Tianyi Square in Haishu, just one stop away from the Foreign Bund, is a short ten-minute walk. This is where Ningbo’s shopping and food are more concentrated. After a long day of shopping, sitting by the river is quite pleasant. If you pass by Tianyi Square at night, don’t miss the musical fountain. Surrounding Tianyi Square, the old city of Ningbo retains many historical buildings with rich cultural atmosphere, such as the Drum Tower, City God Temple, Yuehu Park, and Tianyi Pavilion, all within a 10-minute drive and about a half-hour walk. Tianyi Pavilion is one of the oldest existing private libraries in China and is a scholarly garden in the Jiangnan region. You can find many interesting trinkets at the Drum Tower Night Market and City God Temple, and the City God Temple also offers a variety of snacks from the north and south. The Ningbo Tangyuan from Gangyagou is always a must-try local delicacy. Crossing the Yongjiang Bridge from the Foreign Bund to Jiangdong, this side is the emerging area of Ningbo. The Shanshan Park under the bridge offers a panoramic view of Haishu and Jiangbei across the river, making it an excellent spot to enjoy the nightscape of Sanjiangkou. Further north, the Ningbo Book City, transformed from the Tai Feng Flour Mill, and the Hefeng Creative Park, converted from the Hefeng Textile Mill, are the results of the integration of artistic culture and industrial civilization. Friends who love literature and art are recommended to visit. The opening times mentioned are subject to the actual operating status on the day.Grand Canal Ningbo Sanjiangkou
