The Chongxing Temple Ancient Stage is situated between Shijia Village and Houxi Village in Ninghai Xidian Town. It is a shared heritage of both villages, which are home to the Shi clan. The villagers of Shijia and Houxi share the same surname and are descendants of Shi Xianwen, who was granted the title of ‘Fengzhi Dafu’ during the Song Dynasty’s Qiandao era.
In the mid-Kangxi period, Shi Chengwo founded the Suoxing Temple. Later, in the 21st year of the Daoguang era (1841), Shi Yuntai, also known as Yi Ding, moved the Chongxing Temple to the left side of the Shi family’s ancestral hall. Concurrently, the ancient stage and three continuous caissons were constructed.
