Gao Feng Chan Temple has a history of over 1500 years. Originally constructed during the reign of Emperor Wu of the Southern Liang Dynasty in the Southern and Northern Dynasties period, it was initially named Shuangji An. The temple later acquired its current name due to the residence and propagation of the Dharma by the eminent monk Gao Feng Yuanmiao at this location.
