Yi County Ancient Town, now known as the county seat of Yi County, is located in Biyang Town. It is backed by the Dongyue Mountains, bordered by the Zhang River, and surrounded by mountains on all sides with clear streams flowing back, presenting a beautiful scenery. The town was formerly known as ‘County Street,’ and its ancient architecture is renowned far and wide. Huangshan Mountain, formerly known as Yishan, gave the county its name. In 221 BC, Emperor Qin Shi Huang unified the country, abolished the feudal system, and established the county system, setting up Yi (Yu) County. The town is open all year round, with full-day access.
