The ancient city of Yixian, now the county seat of Yixian County, is nestled in Biyang Town. It is a place where the majestic Dongyue Mountain stands tall behind it, and the Zhanghe River flows along its borders. Surrounded by mountains on all sides, the city boasts clear streams that meander through, adding to its picturesque landscape. Originally, this city was known as ‘county street’, and its ancient buildings have garnered fame far and wide.
The old name of Mount Huangshan, which is now a renowned landmark, was Yishan. The county itself was named in honor of this mountain. Historically, in 221 BC, when Qin Shi Huang unified the world and abolished the enfeoffment system in favor of prefectures and counties, Yixian (Youxian) County was established.
Yixian County is open to visitors all day, every day, throughout the year, allowing for exploration and appreciation of its rich history and natural beauty at any time.
