Anxi, historically known as Qingxi, is located in the Dayun Mountain Range of Fujian, renowned worldwide for its tea and dubbed the ‘Chinese Tea Capital’. The region is mountainous, with the primary production area of Anxi Tieguanyin tea situated in the higher-altitude ‘Inner Anxi’ in the west. Hua Xiang Yuan Tea Manor is nestled in this area. At an altitude of over 800 meters, the landscape is characterized by rolling hills and a mild climate with morning mists and evening haze. The soil is deep and slightly acidic, an environment particularly favored by tea plants. The average annual temperature is 16-18 degrees Celsius, with a relative humidity above 78%, earning the region the saying ‘flowers bloom in all seasons, rain is common, yet no snow in winter, but thunder is heard’.
During the spring tea picking season at Hua Xiang Yuan Tea Manor, visitors can immerse themselves in the tea culture. They can visit the initial processing factory of Tieguanyin tea and the Tea Culture Trail to experience the traditional craftsmanship of authentic Tieguanyin tea: plucking, shaking, drying, frying, rolling, initial baking, wrapping, secondary baking, re-wrapping, and final drying. During the tea picking seasons in May or October, visitors can participate in tea picking, with specialized guides providing detailed explanations about tea knowledge, tea plant varieties, and the tea picking and processing process. This allows visitors to transform into ‘Harry Potter of the Tea Garden’, learning to create their own manor tea.
