Ao Yu Peak is located in the central part of Huangshan Mountain. It is named for its resemblance to an Ao fish waiting to eat with its mouth open. It is the foremost among the thirty-six minor peaks of Huangshan. Descending from the Lotus Peak, passing the Turtle and Snake stones, the Hundred Steps Ladder, and through the Lotus Cave, one arrives at Ao Yu Peak. This peak stands at an elevation of 1780 meters, and its name is derived from its shape, with the massive and towering whale head, seemingly swallowing the universe.
On the waist of the peak, there is a triangular Ao Yu Cave, inscribed with the word ‘Heaven-made’ on the cave’s forehead. Inside the cave, there is a ladder path, allowing visitors to enter and exit the cave through the ladder, resembling the Ao fish swallowing and spitting. In front of the peak, there are several stones that look like snails from a distance; on the back of the peak, there is a turtle-shaped large stone, lying close to several egg-shaped small stones, forming scenes such as the Ao fish carrying a golden turtle and the old turtle laying eggs. Opening Hours: Open all year round from 07:00 to 17:00.Ao Yu Peak
