Bai Li Shanshui Gallery – Silicified Wood, situated in Xiadelongwan Village, Qijia Dian Town, Yanqing District, is a pivotal component of Bai Li Shanshui Gallery and the nucleus of Yanqing World Geopark. Spanning an area of 20.5 square kilometers, the scenic area is segmented into an experimental area, a buffer zone, and a core zone. The experimental area is currently accessible to the public and tourists for exploration.
Within this region, 57 exposed silicified wood trees have been identified, with one particularly impressive specimen measuring 2.5 meters in diameter and 15 meters in length. The area boasts one dedicated silicified wood exhibition hall and 18 protection pavilions for these ancient relics. The silicified wood here is locally sourced, having been buried and formed in the region, and is remarkably well-preserved. These trees are clustered in groups, constituting the largest indigenous silicified wood cluster in North China. This geological treasure trove offers invaluable insights into the ancient geography, climate, and the evolution of ancient flora in Beijing and the broader North China region.
The Silicified Wood scenic area operates on specific schedules: from May 1st to October 10th, it is open from 09:00 to 17:00; from October 11th to April 30th, the hours are 09:30 to 16:00; and during the Dragon Boat Festival, the area is accessible from 08:00 to 18:00.
