Bai Cha Village is a natural village under Jiangbian Township, Dongfang City, Hainan Province. The thatched houses in the village resemble upside-down boats, which the villagers call ‘boat-shaped houses’. There are a total of 81 boat-shaped houses in Bai Cha Village, making it one of the well-preserved natural villages of boat-shaped houses in Hainan Province. These boat-shaped houses are a testament to the excellent architectural skills of the Li ethnic group, and in 2008, Bai Cha Village’s boat-shaped houses were included in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage list. The village is open all year round and accessible 24/7.
