The Baijianghu Forest Park in Guangzhou was established in 2000, covering an area of 24,700 mu. The park construction is guided by protective development. It is a comprehensive multi-functional suburban forest park integrating functions such as environmental protection, ecological balance, sightseeing, vacation and entertainment, popular science education, etc. With natural ecological landscapes as the main body and combined with artificial landscapes.
The park is located in the east of Guangzhou and belongs to the south subtropical monsoon climate in low-latitude areas. The climate is mild all year round and there is abundant rainfall. The negative ion content in the air at scenic spots in the park is above 1000 per cubic centimeter, and some scenic spots can reach 10,000 per cubic centimeter. The air quality is grade A, which is suitable for leisure tourism and forest health preservation activities. The park is rich in underground water resources. The main stream belongs to the Dongjiang River system. It is crystal clear and meanders from north to south through the park and flows into the Zengjiang River. Due to the low mountains and steep slopes, deep valleys are cut, the river channels are tortuous, and there are many canyons, often forming thousands of water and stone landscapes. ‘The beautiful valley in the sacred mountain and the beautiful Baijianghu with blooming wildflowers’ – After years of construction, the park has focused on creating three core scenic areas: Shuiweng, Baijianghu, and Conghuagu. The three scenic areas are connected by a 4.0-kilometer upstream hiking trail, a 3.5-kilometer mountaintop greenway, and a 14-kilometer driveway. There are strange peaks and rocks in the park with various shapes; waterfalls in the forest and gurgling water; deep forest paths and secluded, beautiful in all seasons; floating clouds and misty rain. The main landscape resources in the park currently are: upstream valley, ShiJian Stone, Baizhang Waterfall, natural bathtub, Baijianghu, Conghuagu, Dagutang, Qingjing Pool, Jade Rabbit Stone, Eagle Pool, etc. It is an ideal place for surrounding citizens and tourists to experience upstream hiking and mountain climbing for leisure.
