The Jinan Baili Yellow River Scenic Area is adjacent to the northern part of Jinan urban area. With a total length of 51.98 kilometers, it is an ecological and cultural theme garden. Strolling in the scenic area, you can not only appreciate the engineering landscapes such as the Yellow River dikes, dangerous works, and sluice gates known as China’s ‘Great Wall on Water’, but also observe the main channel of the Yellow River known as the ‘hanging river’.
The Que Mountain and Yuqing Lake Reservoir connected with the Yellow River are like two dressing mirrors of the Yellow River mother, crystal clear. The scenic area has a large area of multi-species ecological forests, Sino-Japanese friendship forests, Cuizhuyuan, Hongfengyuan, Yinxingyuan, Duzhongyuan, sightseeing agricultural parks, and the Que Mountain, Huashan, and Yaoshan landscapes, which are at the top of Jinan’s ‘Nine Peaks in Qi and Yan’. Among them, Que Mountain and Yaoshan are named after Bian Que, a famous doctor in the Spring and Autumn Period, who practiced medicine and collected herbs here. In addition, the century-old railway bridge with a jade belt around its waist, the cable-stayed highway bridge, and the ancient ferry pontoon bridge add a bit more charm to the ancient mother river. The scenic area is equipped with garden sketches such as the theme sculpture of ‘Mother Yellow River’, ‘Yellow River Tower’, ‘Yellow River Museum’, the meeting platform of Qi and Lu states in the Spring and Autumn Period – ‘Luoshangtai’, ‘Ancient Luokou domain name stele’, flood control wall, ‘Yellow River Dragon’ wall, Guanlan Pavilion, Dayu, stone carving groups of galloping bulls, stele forest of achievements in harnessing the Yellow River, and landscape stones.
