Baishuiyang is hailed as a ‘peculiar landscape’, ‘a peerless wonder on earth and a mystery of the universe’. It is currently the world’s ‘shoal square’. The riverbed is evenly distributed with water and is completely free of gravel. When people walk on it, the water only reaches the ankles. Under the sunlight, the water shimmers brightly, presenting a pure white glow, hence the name Baishuiyang.
Between the middle and lower sections, there is a nearly 100-meter-long natural slide. Sliding down naked does not harm the skin and is called a ‘natural surfing swimming pool’. Sunlight, white water, and water erosion wave marks form a colorful riverbed. People can engage in unique water sports such as wading, surfing, racing, tug-of-war, martial arts, cycling, lion dancing, etc., and fully enjoy the coolness bestowed by nature.
Standing on the middle section, looking at the peaks opposite, the beautiful peak located beside Baishuiyang is Wulao Peak. The small platform in front of it is called Chessboard Rock. Legend has it that in the past, five immortals were sitting on Chessboard Rock, deeply lost in thought in front of the chess game, oblivious to the passage of time. Eventually, they were transformed into Wulao Peak due to their concentration.
The lower section of Baishuiyang is as smooth as a mirror. It forms a sharp contrast with the bustling surfing area in the middle section, giving people a sense of tranquility. The protruding rock in the center of the water is connected to the riverbed. Its shape changes with different viewpoints. Looking from the upper left, it resembles a black gauze cap of the Ming Dynasty, so it is called ‘Sha Mao Yan’. The observation deck is built along the mountain and ascends according to the terrain, like a huge ship docking at the shore. As the name suggests, the observation deck is a platform for enjoying the beauty of Baishuiyang. Inside the observation deck, there are facilities such as a medical aid station, supermarket, leisure area, and locker and changing room. This relieves the burden on tourists. Standing on the observation deck and looking at the flat Baishuiyang, leaning on the railing and looking into the distance, the entire large shoal square is in full view. Green waves summon whitecaps, and the mountain breeze carries the charm of the water, making people feel relaxed and happy. Looking around, the Shuanglong Bridge on the upper section spans across the two banks, forming an aesthetically pleasing picture of green mountains, flowing water, and an ancient bridge in perfect harmony.
