The Baitahu National Wetland Park in Zhuji is located in the north. It is a natural lake in the Puyang River Basin. It is a large ecological wetland in Zhuji City and also an important ecological barrier in the north of Zhuji. The total area of the wetland park is 1386 hectares, of which the planned area is 856 hectares. Inside it, a total of 78 islands are formed, presenting a scene of ‘fields in the lake, lakes in the fields, and people living together with the lake’. The Baitahu Wetland Park has connected land and water, beautiful scenery, rich ecological resources, simple natural landscapes, and profound cultural accumulation. It is known as ‘Baitahu in Zhuji, a small Dongting Lake in central Zhejiang’. It is a national wetland park integrating natural wetlands, farming wetlands, and cultural wetlands. The vegetation in the lake mainly includes river willows, early bamboos, mulberry trees, camphor trees, reeds, etc., in addition to rice and vegetables. The aquatic products in Baitahu are abundant, mainly including various freshwater fish such as lake crabs, soft-shelled turtles, silver carps, and bighead carps. In the 1960s and 1970s, Baitahu almost had all the aquatic animals and plants in the water towns of Jiangnan. In spring, there are flocks of birds and magpies. In winter, wild geese return.
