Baiyu Mountain is located in the heart of Lushun City, on the northern bank of Lushun Port, and is a renowned scenic spot in Lushun. Climbing to the top of the mountain offers a panoramic view of the entire Lushun Port, as well as the natural sandbar ‘Tiger Tail’ extending from the opposite mountain, making it an ideal observation point in the Lushun District. The mountaintop also features two attractions: Baiyu Mountain Tower and the Naval Weaponry Museum. Baiyu Mountain is not very high, with an elevation of just over 130 meters at the summit, and the number of attractions within the scenic area is limited, allowing visitors to tour the entire area in less than half a day. There are mountain roads leading to the summit from both the northeast and the south of the scenic area, and it is conveniently located near Lushun Train Station and Bus Station, from where visitors can take a taxi to the mountain. A cable car is available on the southern side of the scenic area, with a one-way fare of 15 yuan. The ticket office is located on the eastern side of the scenic area (next to the Baiyu Mountain Tunnel at the intersection of Yellow River Road and Yangtze River Road), and visitors can climb the cement steps next to it to reach the mountaintop, which takes approximately 20 minutes on foot. Baiyu Mountain Tower, formerly known as the ‘Tower of Loyalty’, was built by the Japanese army in the early 20th century to honor the soldiers who were loyal to the Emperor during the Russo-Japanese War, and now serves as a testament to the history of invasion. Climbing the tower provides an even broader view of Lushun Port, but there is an additional fee to enter. The Naval Weaponry Museum, included in the main ticket of the scenic area, displays some of China’s self-designed and built naval weaponry and equipment, including torpedo boats, tanks, shore-to-ship missiles, helicopters, radars, naval guns, and more, making it a must-see for military enthusiasts. In the southwest corner of Baiyu Mountain Scenic Area, there is a Lushun Bird Park, also included in the main ticket. Visitors can descend from the road near Baiyu Mountain Tower and pass by the park halfway down the mountain. The park offers a chance to observe peacocks, brown horses, blue horses, parrots, cranes, mandarin ducks, and various other bird species, as well as performances such as cockfighting and parrot talking, which are worth visiting. Ancient artillery relics can also be seen halfway up the mountain. There are several small shops at the summit selling drinks, cold beverages, and sausages, but the prices are higher than outside the scenic area, so it is recommended to bring your own snacks and water. For meals, visitors can dine in the city at the foot of the mountain. The scenic area is open year-round from 08:00 to 16:30. Preferential policies include free admission for children under 6 years old (including 6 years old) or under 1.3 meters in height (including 1.3 meters, accompanied by one guardian), free admission for elderly people over 70 years old with valid identification, half-price admission for visitors aged 60-69 with valid identification, free admission for active-duty soldiers, disabled soldiers, retired military officers, retired non-commissioned officers, and martyr’s families with valid identification, free admission for Dalian public security police with valid ID and police officer’s certificate, free admission for people with disabilities with valid identification, and free admission for residents of Lushun District with valid identification. Students with full-time undergraduate and below qualifications can enjoy half-price admission with valid identification.
