Bajie Overlooking the Sea is located within the Baishan Scenic Area. Its unique shape resembles Bajie gazing into the distant ocean, hence the name. It is said that Bajie Overlooking the Sea is named after Zhu Bajie, who left his home to accompany Tang Sanzang on a journey to the West to obtain sacred scriptures. After achieving the scriptures, he still couldn’t forget Miss Gao from Gaolao Village. He came to Mount Putuo to seek Guanyin Bodhisattva and waited for her in Baishan, waiting to this day. The scenic spot is open all year round and accessible 24 hours a day.
