Banxi River is located in the old town, entering the city from the southeast corner and winding its way northwest, exiting the city and merging into Fengzui River, traversing more than half of the urban area. Banxi River, known as the ‘Mother River’ of Nanchuan people, acts like a thread connecting the historical development of Nanchuan, also bestowing the city with vitality and vibrancy. As night falls, under the glow of lights, the rippling waves contribute to the harmony and tranquility of the city. Spanning more than half of Nanchuan city, Banxi River is like a shining pearl embedded in the city.
Banxi River meanders through the city, with the city and water forming a harmonious whole, naturally accompanied by bridges. Flat bridges, arch bridges, wooden bridges…; there are more than ten bridges of various sizes on Banxi River, each becoming a unique scenic spot. Especially the newly constructed Zhengyang Bridge and Nanmen Bridge, which are like rainbows spanning across the river, adorned with various beautiful patterns and elegantly composed. The bridges, combined with the surrounding scenery, form a three-dimensional picture of ‘scenery within the bridge and bridge within the scenery’, displaying the artistic conception of ‘walking on the bridge as if touring in a painting’.
Following the riverbank upstream, the willows on both sides of the river accompany the gentle spring breeze, swaying in the wind, evoking the beautiful verse ‘A jade tree adorned in emerald green, with thousands of threads of silk hanging down’. On the upper and lower pedestrian paths, along the river’s small parks, and small square flower beds, plants such as Cinnamomum camphora, Magnolia grandiflora, and Osmanthus fragrans, along with many other nameless varieties of flora, embellish Nanchuan city even more beautifully and charmingly.
