Introduction: Bao Family Garden is located 6 kilometers west of Shexian County. It is the private garden of Bao Qiyun, a Huizhou merchant in the Qing Dynasty and a descendant of Bao Shuya from ‘the friendship of Guan Zhong and Bao Shuya’. The garden is complete with rockeries, ponds, pavilions and towers. It is spacious and magnificent. There is green vegetation everywhere, and the environment is very good. The highlight of the garden is nearly ten thousand potted landscapes of various shapes. Each pot is trimmed very exquisitely. Among them, the ancient banyan tree with a cultivation history of more than two hundred years called ‘Southern Charm’ is the ‘treasure of the garden’. In addition, there is a museum in the garden that can be visited, exhibiting potted landscapes, wood carvings and root carvings. Bao Family Garden has its own hotel, Bao Family Garden Hotel. It is in the same style as the garden, with a garden-style patio. The guest rooms are furnished in an antique style. The ticket for Bao Family Garden is a joint ticket with the nearby Tangyue Archways Group. It costs 100 yuan and cannot be purchased separately. Staying at the hotel allows free visit to Bao Family Garden. However, if you want to see the Tangyue Archways Group, you still need to buy a 100-yuan ticket. The Tangyue Archways Group is only 500 meters away from Bao Family Garden. In order not to waste the expensive ticket, it is a must-see. Seven archways stand one after another across the rural path, quite imposing. In April, when rape blossoms are in full bloom, it adds a touch of agility. Beside the archways group, there are also two ancestral halls, Dunben Hall (Bao Family’s Male Ancestral Hall) and Qingyi Hall (Bao Family’s Female Ancestral Hall). The Bao surname is a major surname in Tangyue Village. The ancestral halls enshrine the Bao family. Among them, the female ancestral hall is very special. It is the only female ancestral hall in the country and is specially built for the chaste women and heroic martyrs of the Bao family throughout the ages.
