Chongwenmen was called Wenming Gate in the Yuan Dynasty. It is commonly known as Hadamen and Haidaimen. Chongwenmen is famous for the iron turtle suppressing the sea in Zhenhai Temple on the left side of the barbican. The ‘Chongwen iron turtle’ is famous all over Kyoto.
