Beibei Park is an urban mountain park, covering an area of 130,000 square meters, and is located at the highest point in the city center of Beibei District. It offers a panoramic view of the mountain scenery, water landscapes, gorges, and urban landscapes of Beibei, including Jinyun Mountain, Jialing River, Wengtang Gorge, and Guanyin Gorge.
Built on October 12, 1930, by the renowned patriotic industrialist Mr. Lu Zuofu, the park was initially named Beibei Flame Mountain Park and was renamed Beibei Common People’s Park in April 1936. It was renamed Beibei Park in 1950. The park boasts lush vegetation, fragrant flowers, and verdant trees, with a greenery coverage rate of 81%. It houses 11 species and over 50 animals, primarily pheasants such as peacocks, golden pheasants, and white-necked pheasants.
In 1988, a memorial garden named Zuofu Garden was constructed, featuring a white marble statue of Mr. Lu Zuofu, as well as two memorial pavilions, Wangjiang Pavilion and Wangxiang Pavilion. The park now includes a tea garden, a roller-skating rink, Zhichun Pavilion, a bonsai garden, and a children’s playground. The bonsai garden, built on the site of the former flower garden, covers an area of approximately 3,000 square meters and displays over 200 bonsai pieces, including tree stumps and rocks.
