The Beihai Shell Carving Museum is a museum dedicated to the theme of shell carving. With the mission of inheriting the Beihai shell carving skills and promoting traditional Chinese culture, the museum centers around sightseeing and tourism, focusing on the history of shells and the culture of shell carving techniques. It features special areas such as the Origin of Shell Carving History, Production Experience Area, Physical Product Area, and the Museum’s Treasure Area, encouraging society to actively participate in the inheritance and protection of traditional handicrafts.
The museum houses thousands of precious shell artifacts, exquisite mother-of-pearl collections, and over a hundred masterful shell carving works. To enhance visitors’ experience of the historical development of Beihai shell carving, the museum provides guided tours for visiting groups and has a special shell carving experience station to feel the process of shell carving. Opening hours are from 09:00 to 17:00 all year round. Additional preferential policies: 1. Children under 1.40 meters (excluding) are admitted free of charge; military personnel, disabled persons, and seniors aged 65 and above are admitted free of charge with valid identification.Children between 1.4 (including) and 1.49 (including) meters in height should purchase a child’s ticket, and those 1.5 meters (including) and above should purchase an adult ticket.
