The Beihai Tunnel is situated between Ren’ai Village and Mei Shi Village on the Mazu Islands, and was originally a military dock carved out in 1968 by the Taiwan authorities for the strategic needs of sheltering from waves and countering artillery fire from the mainland. Today, it has been transformed into a popular tourist destination.

One of the most famous attractions within the tunnel is the reflection of the rock walls in the water, which, when cast upon the calm surface, create the illusion of another tunnel, enhancing the perception of the tunnel’s height and presenting a spectacular sight. Additionally, there are numerous holes in the rock walls made by air compressors to blast gunpowder, indicating the difficulty of the tunnel’s construction at the time.

Visitors can walk along a 700-meter long path built along the rock walls, taking approximately 30 minutes to complete a full circuit. The opening hours and specific business status are subject to the daily opening conditions.
