In the Beihui Tropic of Cancer Square in Nan’ao stands the Beihui Tropic of Cancer test landmark tower ‘Gate of Nature’. It is the eleventh Tropic of Cancer landmark tower built in China so far. The tower is designed and shaped by evolving the Chinese character ‘门’ (gate). There is a sphere in the gate-shaped structure. At noon on the summer solstice every year, when the sun shines directly on the Tropic of Cancer, the sun’s shadow will pass through the central circular tube above the sphere and be projected onto the center of the platform.
