Beiji Pavilion, also known as Beiji Temple, is one of the significant historical sites of Daming Lake, located on the north bank of the lake. It was originally constructed in the 17th year of the Zhiyuan era during the Yuan Dynasty (1280 AD) and is the largest existing Taoist temple in Jinan City. The pavilion is built on thirty-six steps, towering and majestic. Flanking it are the Bell and Drum Towers. Inside the main hall, a statue of the Northern God, Emperor Zhenwu, is enshrined, with murals depicting the legendary tales of Zhenwu. Behind the main hall lies the Parents’ Hall, where the Holy Father and Mother are worshipped. Beiji Temple stands as a lofty point on the north bank of Daming Lake. From the temple platform, one can enjoy an expansive view, gazing southward to the mountains that form a screen, and overlooking the lake with its smoky green willows and vast, rippling waves. Open all year round from 8:30 to 17:00.
