Beijiang Dike is an essential flood defense barrier for Guangzhou City against floods from the Xijiang and Beijiang rivers. It is one of the seven major dikes that the country must protect, safeguarding Guangzhou in South China, as well as economically prosperous areas of the Pearl River Delta such as Huadu, Sanshui, Nanhai, and Foshan. Around the Foshan section of Beijiang Dike, valuable trees such as camphor trees and tea plants are cultivated, which hold significant importance for further flood prevention. The dike is open all year round and accessible 24/7.
