Beijing Aquarium - Explore Marine Life

The Beijing Aquarium is located in the Beijing Zoo. Inside the aquarium, you can observe various marine animals in different shapes. You can also see wonderful animal shows such as dolphins and sea lions. It is a great place for children to learn about marine knowledge. The aquarium is a huge conch-shaped building with two floors, divided into seven areas: Rainforest Wonders, Shark Town, Underwater Tour, Bering Strait, National Treasure Chinese Sturgeon Pavilion, Whale and Dolphin Bay, and Ocean Theatre. After entering the aquarium, follow the indicated route and visit one by one in order. It takes about 3 hours to visit the whole aquarium.

Rainforest Wonders: Feel the rich tropical atmosphere. The entrance of the aquarium is on its south side. After entering from the south side, it is the Rainforest Wonders area. The Rainforest Wonders area is an epitome of an artificially constructed Amazon jungle. Walking among the winding paths, there are trees, rockeries, waterfalls, etc. on both sides. You can feel the rich tropical scenery. Inside, there are various tropical fish species with strange looks such as discus fish, African cichlids, and arowana on display for you to enjoy one by one.

Shark Town: Bring a highly impactful and shocking feeling. Shark Town is adjacent to the Rainforest Wonders and Bering Strait exhibition areas. It is composed of the shark pavilion and the fishing port town. The giant pool body is 6.4 meters high and 33 meters long. The water depth is 5.1 meters. The bottom area of the pool is 263 square meters, and the total water storage capacity is 1400 tons. Its design comprehensively considers factors such as shark species, quantity and body length, bait structure required by sharks, water quality requirements, swimming habits, living habits and future tourist participation and interactivity. Opposite the shark pavilion, a modern fishing port town has been built to show tourists the unique style of a ‘fisherman’s wharf’.

Bering Strait Town: Observe the lovely beluga whales up close. Next to the beachy area is the Bering Strait Town area. This area is relatively small and is a paradise for two polar beluga whales. You can see the lovely beluga whales in the water through the panoramic large glass window. You can also see the romantic scene of the keeper feeding the beluga whales and dancing with them.

National Treasure Chinese Sturgeon Pavilion: Witness the scene of feeding rare fish. After passing through Bering Strait Town, in front is the rare fish pavilion. Inside the pavilion, interesting popular science display boards help tourists understand the story and living habits of this kind of fish. Here, multiple national treasure fish are raised. You can get close to observe this rare fish species and also see the scene of feeding the national treasure fish.

Underwater Tour: Walk in the romantic underwater world. Coming out of the Chinese sturgeon pavilion, the entrance to the Underwater Tour is here. Walking underwater along the tour route, you will pass through multiple separated areas such as the South China Sea, the Western Pacific Ocean, the Indian Ocean, the Red Sea, and the Atlantic Ocean. The species in each area are also different, each with its own characteristics.

A variety of fish swim overhead for you to enjoy to your heart’s content. The scene is also very vivid and romantic.
Whale and Dolphin Bay: After greeting the sea lions and dolphins, you can visit Whale and Dolphin Bay. The main fish here are sea lions and dolphins. You can see the scenes of animals training and playing in the water, which makes people feel lovely and beautiful. After training, the animals here will perform at the Ocean Theatre.

Ocean Theatre: Various interesting animal shows. The Ocean Theatre is the last stop of the tour route. There are wonderful performances every day. The clever and lively performances of animals such as dolphins and sea lions will make tourists laugh heartily. The soft lighting and the scene of animals dancing are also very romantic. Dining and shopping in the park: If you want to have a meal in the aquarium, there is a Haoweidao fast food restaurant next to the Sturgeon Pavilion. In addition, there are shopping stores at the entrance of Bering Town and the Ocean Theatre. At the same time, souvenirs of the aquarium are also sold. However, the prices for dining and shopping inside are relatively high. It is recommended to have a meal outside after visiting.

Opening hours: Open from 09:00 to 17:30 from April 1st to October 31st; open from 10:00 to 17:00 from November 1st to March 31st.

Preferential policies: Children: Those who are above 1.2 meters (inclusive) and under 18 years old (exclusive) and hold their valid certificates can enjoy half-price tickets. Those who are under 1.2 meters (exclusive) (need to be accompanied by adults who purchase tickets as required to enter the museum) can enter for free.
