The large-scale dinosaur fairy tale drama “You Look Delicious” is a creation by picture book author Tatsuya Miyanishi. This picture book has been highly recommended for children and has become a sensation across the country with nearly 2000 performances. In 2012, it even graced the CCTV Children’s Spring Festival Gala, introducing this “moving masterpiece” to millions of Chinese families.
One of the hallmarks of “You Look Delicious” is its beautiful and touching melody. The production team, after thorough discussions, assembled a formidable creative team to compose a significant amount of music specifically for the play. They also engaged in dialogue and exchange with the renowned Japanese music master Joe Hisaishi, incorporating some of Hisaishi’s classic compositions as key melodies within the drama.
From the perspective of children, “You Look Delicious” choreographs dances that are very childlike for all the dinosaurs featured in the play. Theropods, Diplodocus, Pterosaurs, Ornithomimids, Triceratops, Rodents, Pteranodons, Edmontosaurus — each dinosaur has its own unique dance moves, enabling the audience to quickly understand the characteristics of each species.
