Introduction:
This exhibition unfolds in two parts. The space on the first floor presents 23 sculptural installations by the artist. The exhibition hall on the second floor focuses on displaying her 21 easel paintings. The exhibition will open on September 14, 2024.
Liang Shuni’s creations have always started from the body and the personal feelings and specific experiences that come with it. They convey a motive of careful exploration from the inside out and extend an outward-touching action. Finally, they attempt to establish a perception of life in the external world. In a general sense, the body is the organization and structure of a living being. For Liang Shuni, the body is not only the basis for experiencing life but also the language and channel for communicating with the objective world.
Thus, in the continuous interaction with the external environment, the body is constantly exiled in containers such as the natural environment, urban environment, living environment, and emotional environment. It both resists and depends on these containers—even bodies are constantly trying to touch, feel, and peek at each other. In the end, Liang Shuni feels and understands the world through this primitive way, and the body has also become the first place for her to judge and depict the world through creation.
The installations and sculptures in the exhibition hall on the first floor directly hit the origin of life and the reverie of death. That is the birth and demise of bones and flesh, a romantic imagination of where life comes from and where it goes—penetrating deep into the marrow and returning to the personal emotional support related to all things in the universe.

The painting works on the second floor delve into the relationship between the specific body and local structure, and the surrounding environment. The two seem out of place, but what they reflect is precisely their complex, close, and even struggling and dependent situation. The artist’s ethnic minority background, her gender, and her delicate emotions and moods all finally incarnate in the mystery of striving to transcend reality and directly approaching physical feelings.
