Xia Peng, a resident and worker in Germany for over two decades, has experienced a remarkable transformation in his artistic approach. His journey began in 2003 when he moved to Germany to study, and continued until 2021, with a significant shift in his creative methods. Initially an ink painter, Xia Peng transitioned to manipulating canvases, evolving from a subjective viewpoint to an exploration of the intricate interplay between time and space. His focus turned towards capturing these dimensions through nuanced shades and tranquil compositions, leading his work towards a more abstract aesthetic.
During this period, traditional narratives dissolved into the dynamic between complexity and simplicity, often presented in a single hue. This reflects Xia Peng’s relentless pursuit of pushing the boundaries of visual art. His aim is to create images that transcend conventional frameworks and evoke a sense of harmony and boundless potential.
