Beijing Garden Expo Park, the venue for the 9th China International Garden Expo, is located in the Yongding River green ecological development zone along the Yongding River in the southwestern part of Beijing, within the territory of Fengtai District. It is bordered by the new right embankment of the Yongding River to the east, Yingshan Park to the west, Meishikou Road to the south, and Lianshi West Road to the north. Relying on the Yongding River channel, it echoes with the Lugou Bridge and boasts a rich historical and cultural atmosphere, diverse terrain, and beautiful natural scenery.
Beijing Garden Expo Park utilizes green technology for ecological restoration on a construction waste landfill, creating a large urban park that integrates garden art, cultural landscapes, ecological leisure, and scientific education. The park’s layout is designed as ‘one axis, two points, and five gardens’. The ‘one axis’ refers to the Garden Expo Axis, which is the landscape axis that runs through the main exhibition area. The ‘two points’ are the Yongding Tower and the Jinxiu Valley. The Yongding Tower, a tower in the style of the Liao and Jin dynasties, stands 69.7 meters tall and is the park’s iconic structure; Jinxiu Valley is an exemplary transformation of a 20-hectare construction waste landfill into a splendid sunken flower valley. The ‘five gardens’ include traditional, modern, creative, international, and wetland exhibition gardens, totaling 69 exhibition gardens, encompassing three major world garden systems: Eastern, European, and Islamic gardens. Notably, the Beijing Garden, Yijiangnan Garden, Lingnan Garden, Min Garden, and Chongqing Garden represent the royal gardens, Jiangnan gardens, Lingnan gardens, Minnan gardens, and Bashu gardens of classical Chinese gardens, showcasing the art and charm of traditional garden design. In addition, Beijing Garden Expo Park has meticulously created several specialty botanical gardens, introducing new and superior varieties, and forming a large-scale, contiguous area. From March to May, visitors can admire cherry blossoms, enjoy lilacs, and observe peonies, as well as the colorful tulip waterfalls in Jinxiu Valley. Starting in May, visitors can enjoy roses in the garden, and from July to August, the crape myrtles are in full bloom, followed by a mountain of red leaves in October and November, with the ginkgo avenue turning golden. Beijing Garden Expo Park offers a variety of scenery in each season, making it a place that never grows tiresome to visit. Full park opening hours: 09/15-10/31, 16:00-23:00.
