The lantern festival is themed ‘Joyful Events in Beijing, Colorful Lanterns in Beijing’. The exhibition area is from Gate 2 to Gate 5 of the Garden Expo Park, covering an area of about 638 mu. There are nine major themed areas in the lantern festival, including Festival Songs, Colorful Avenue in Beijing, Splendid Rivers and Mountains, Colorful Trend in Beijing, Colorful Childhood Dreams, Watching Grand Operas in Beijing, Shining China, Phoenix Dancing in the Nine Heavens, and Colorful Life Gathering in Beijing.
Opening hours: From September 15 to October 31, 16:00 – 22:00. Preferential policies: For children: Children under 1 meter (inclusive) in height are free when accompanied by a ticket-purchasing guardian; children over 1 meter (exclusive) in height enjoy preferential treatment. For students: Students under 18 years old are considered students by default with their ID cards. For people over 18 years old, they need to show their valid student ID cards when purchasing tickets and entering the park. (Student tickets are applicable to full-time undergraduate and below students, including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions, excluding overseas regions, excluding postgraduate students, doctoral students, adult education, and on-the-job education), and enjoy preferential treatment. For the elderly: People aged 65 years old (inclusive) and above can enter the park for free with the ‘Beijing Tong – Elderly Care and Disability Assistance Card’. They need to show their valid certificates when entering the park. For the disabled: People with their own real and valid disability certificates can enter the park for free.
