The Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center is located on the west side of the south central axis road in Xicheng District. It covers an area of 1.65 hectares and has a construction area of 75,000 square meters. Construction started in March 2012 and it is planned to officially open to the public on November 20, 2015. The Tianqiao Performing Arts Center is a modern theater complex, including a large comprehensive theater with 1,600 seats, a medium theater with 1,000 seats, a small theater with 400 seats, and a multifunctional theater with 300 seats.
The Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center is an ‘international performing arts stage’ mainly featuring musicals, dramas, and family shows. It is also a platform for international art and cultural exchanges and innovation. Through diversified operation strategies, it creates a new performing arts industry model, gathers world classic plays, creates domestic stage masterpieces, and promotes the international development of the performing arts in the capital. The Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center plans to launch a three-month opening performance season on November 20, 2015, with nearly 30 wonderful plays staged in a colorful way. In 2016, through the brand building of ‘eight major performance series’, it will realize the integrated development of local and international performing arts cultures and show the charm of national and world stage arts. The Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center has a professional domestic musical theater and will widely introduce international blockbusters and produce domestic musical classics. Relying on the youth artist program, it looks for and promotes the collision and integration of Chinese traditional culture and modern art life, so that Chinese and foreign classic musicals can gather here, thereby promoting the popularization and development of musicals in China. The Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center will plan and organize a variety of art popularization activities to provide a platform for art lovers to contact, learn, and enjoy art.
