Beijing Yanqing Global Geopark is located in the transitional zone between the North China Plain and the Inner Mongolia Plateau, and is one of the renowned sites named after the Yanshan Movement. It is like a shining pearl inlaid on the southern foothills of the majestic Yanshan Mountain Range. On September 9, 2013, Beijing Yanqing Geopark was successfully included in the UNESCO Global Geopark Network and was awarded the title of ‘Beijing Yanqing Global Geopark’.
The park is situated in Yanqing District, Beijing, covering a total area of 620.38 square kilometers, including four park areas: Qianjia Store, Badaling, Longqing Gorge, and Ancient Cliff Dwellings. It is a comprehensive geological park based on Precambrian marine carbonate rocks, with the Mesozoic Yanshan Movement geological relics at its core, integrating tectonics, sedimentation, paleontology, magmatic activities, and northern karst landforms.
