YELLOW Huang Xuan, having experienced various stages of life and musical inspirations, is finally launching his first solo tour on Earth. This tour, titled “Almost Alive,” aims to redefine the concept of ‘LIVE’ by infusing vibrant vitality into the live performance, rejecting boredom and inviting lively swaying. It’s more than just a live concert; it’s an immersive musical experience.
After honing his skills through music awards, international music festivals like Clockenflap, and S+ level music variety shows, Huang Xuan debuted with the ‘Dead or Alive’ concert in 2022 and completed the ‘Stay Alive’ first Blue Note Mainland special show last year. With five years of creative inspiration, he plays with diverse and integrated music styles, continuing the theme of exploring the vitality of music.
The ripe time for YELLOW Huang Xuan’s ‘Almost Alive’ debut solo tour is now. The tour features a meticulously designed and arranged song list, a heavy new single debut, and performances alongside top musicians, presenting a fresh and shocking music ‘LIVE’ show. This year can be said to be the ‘LIVE’ year of the YELLOW Huang Xuan universe.
As ‘Singer 2024’ returns under the live broadcast true LIVE aura, Huang Xuan, who joined as a listed singer, is like a ‘pomegranate’ star crashing into the public view. On the outside, he appears very cold with a prickly appearance, exuding a grotesque odor. Yet, humorously, he opens his chest and shares a rich musical fruit.
Huang Xuan’s musical journey spans from retro Gypsy Swing, Boogie Woogie, Gospel, to avant-garde Fusion Funk, Neo Soul, experimental electronics, and immersive lyrical pop. He does not deliberately cater to the audience’s taste on the competitive stage. Instead, he self-arranges and performs with a relaxed and self-assured demeanor, lifting the entire stage and becoming the listed singer with the longest online time.Let many people from being attracted by ‘abstraction’, to single cycle, knocking bowls for offline performances, slowly enter Huang Xuan’s open and inclusive music universe. Throughout the tour, top musicians who have been together since the days of the YELLOW band will perform. These include Tanya Chua’s bassist Cao Wei, guitarist Lin Tingyu from 9m88/MCHotdog, jazz keyboardist Wu Zhijie who has collaborated with various genres, and jazz drummer Chen Yancheng who has worked with An Pu/9m88. There will also be a surprise brass section joining, bringing exclusive tour adaptations and soon-to-be-released new singles. Huang Xuan once said in an interview: ‘We treat live performances as something different; of course, they have their limitations, but no one says performances have to be the same as studio versions.’LIVE’ is dynamic and full of life, never staying in one state forever.
