The newly constructed Rhino and Hippo Pavilion, situated north of the Changhe River within the zoo, is a single-story brick and concrete structure. Comprising 13 cylindrical animal houses of varying heights, the pavilion reaches a maximum of 7 meters. The central visitation hall spans an impressive 20 meters.
The pavilion is designed to accommodate 9 rhino enclosures and 2 hippo enclosures. Additionally, it includes two deep pools for the hippos, each measuring 2 meters in depth and covering an area of 80 square meters, providing ample space for swimming.
A 2.4-meter-high exhibition window separates the hall from the animal houses. This design feature ensures an unobstructed view for visitors while effectively blocking any animal odors. The ceilings and walls of the animal houses are decorated with murals that depict the natural ecological environments of rhinos and hippos, enhancing the visual experience for visitors.
The opening hours of the pavilion are subject to the zoo’s daily operational status.
