The ‘Return to Old Summer Palace’ digital light and shadow exhibition of Old Summer Palace is based on 20 years of scientific research achievements of Tsinghua University. Through digital creative technology and contemporary interpretation concepts, it transforms rigorous scientific research into an exhibition product that can be experienced, shared, and spread. The entire exhibition takes the perspective of researchers as the entry point. By reproducing the process from ruins to rebirth, it explains the contemporary value of the Old Summer Palace and expounds on people’s understanding and interpretation of it today, making cultural heritage face the contemporary era and the future.
