Bijiang Village is located in Beijiao Town, Shunde District. The large-scale construction of the village began in the early Southern Song Dynasty and was historically known as ‘Pi Gang’, with a history dating back over a thousand years. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, it was one of the four major markets in Shunde. Bijiang Village has produced a multitude of talents. According to the ‘Shunde County Annals’, from the establishment of the county in the third year of the Jingtai era of the Ming Dynasty to the mid-Qing period, Bijiang Village produced 17 Jinshi (advanced scholars) and more than 106 successful candidates in the imperial examinations.
These officials spread across the capital and the country. After retiring, they dedicated themselves to constructing ancestral halls and private gardens, leaving behind a large number of distinctive ancestral halls and other ancient buildings in Bijiang Village.
