Buda Marionette Theatre, also known as “Hand Puppetry”, is one of the representative local traditional drama genres in southern Fujian. It is also an intangible cultural heritage of southern Fujian. With a long history, exquisite modeling, unique style and superb performing skills, it is praised as “Ten fingers can create celestial beings, and ages of stories can unfold in the palm”. “Thousand-year Puppets, Legends in Fingers and Palms” – Hongyanzhuang Puppet Art Museum brings together the top-quality Buda marionettes of southern Fujian. It showcases the delicate carving techniques and production craftsmanship of puppets to the audience, enabling people to pay in-depth attention to the cultural origin and development background of Buda marionettes in southern Fujian.

Visitors can visit the intangible cultural heritage treasures in the museum, the exquisitely carved Buda marionettes in magnificent costumes.

Opening hours:
Closed all day on Mondays throughout the year.
Open from 10:00 – 17:00 from Tuesdays to Sundays throughout the year. Individual visits are not accepted.


Preferential policies:
1. Free admission:
– Children under 1.1 meters in height can visit for free, but must be accompanied by a ticket-purchasing guardian. And each ticket-purchasing guardian can only bring one free-admission child.
– Seniors over 70 years old can visit for free with valid certificates.
– Retired cadres can visit for free with their retirement certificates (issued by the State Council).


– Disabled people can visit for free with their disability certificates.
– Tour guides with their own tour guide certificates can visit for free.
– Residents of Zengcuoan can visit for free with their ID cards or household registers.
2. Discounted admission:
– Children over 1.2 meters, students in primary, junior high, senior high schools (excluding adult education and postgraduate students), and seniors aged 60 (inclusive) to 70 years old can purchase preferential tickets with valid certificates or household registers.


3. Children between 1.1 meters and 1.2 meters in height need to purchase child tickets.
