The Tiantai Mountain Buddhism City has special contributions and influences in the Buddhist community. Its predecessor is the Tiantai Mountain Art Museum. It was established with the approval of the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province in 1993, aiming to research, excavate and sort out the traditional Buddhist statue art and protect, develop and promote traditional culture. The most distinctive feature of the Tiantai Mountain Buddhism City is the statue-making technique of ‘gold lacquer wood carving – dry lacquer and hemp cloth method’. In 2006, it was approved by the State Council as one of the first batch of intangible cultural heritages and is a treasure of traditional Chinese arts and crafts. Opening hours: Open all year round from 07:00 to 16:30. The specific business status is subject to the opening situation on the day.
